When I go to Brussels, I always try to avoid Brussels-South because I personally don’t find it very safe. This is due to the many homeless people and individuals looking for trouble who harass you there. However, this doesn’t mean that such situations don’t happen in other parts of Brussels.
For example, when a friend and I went shopping near Brussels-Central, we decided to end our day by sitting in the Mont des Arts Garden. It was quite a busy place, so you wouldn’t expect to be harassed by men there in the middle of the day. Yet, that’s exactly what happened.
Another time, we were standing outside waiting for our train back to Antwerp. In front of us, we saw drunk people and homeless individuals arguing, even throwing beer bottles at each other. This happened during the day, in a fairly crowded area.
