As tourists who don’t know Brussels very well, there are certain areas that leave us feeling uneasy. The majority of the city, for example the Grand Place and the Christmas markets, feel safe and have a sense of familiarity. However, while walking back to our hotel, we frequently pass certain streets in which homelessness is very prevalent. Particularly as women, the vast majority of these figures being men has often made us feel uncomfortable, and that is something that we believe can be improved.
